Our Team

Beyond "Us, the company" there is "Us, the people".
For us Cubic SoftLab isn't everything. It's just our workplace. Just a workplace where we drink great coffee. Just a place where we eat together. Just a place where our weird sense of humour makes sense.
Between us, sometimes it is also the place where our family members come looking for us: checking to see whether we are working or just having fun 9 to 12 hours a day...

Cornelia Farcas, Chief Executive Officer at Cubic SoftLab

Cornelia Fărcaș

Chief Executive Officer

Web development and its various components was one of the first things she mastered. Project management she learned on her own and on the job. Unrelenting when it comes to work, flexible when it comes to people and generous when it comes to office pizza.

Gabriel Olariu, Project Manager at Cubic SoftLab

Gabriel Olariu

Project Manager

Gabriel has a masters degree in Management from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca. You get the impression he had to work in shifts to accumulate the work experience managing people and projects his CV mentions: in food industry, car rental services, transportation, medical software development, pharmaceutical products and IT support. Management is mostly about people, he will tell you, and how to help and motivate them to become the best. A rare combination of humor and no-nonsense during office hours, Gabi is an avid boardgame player and a bold fan of Carlos Santana.

Bogdan Filip, Back-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Bogdan Filip

Back-End Team Leader

His instincts for photography seems to find itself at home in his approach to programming. Be it C++, Java or Android, you have to think first about the angle. Hence, the dreamy expression while staring at the code.

Viorela Alina Gligan, Back-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Viorela Alina Gligan

Back-End Developer

Viorela is very firm about two things: logical rigour and the nature & environment protection. The first crystallized gradually into a passion for coding in C# and using SQL. Making beautiful logical structures is something she finds quite satisfying. The second makes her thirst for new places to visit on this amazing planet, gets her angry when people mistreat animals. Shy at the beginning, Vio is nonetheless a team centered persona through and through: that’s why she loves volleyball and that’s why she works best with others when coding.

Cristina Filip, Back-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Cristina Filip

Back-End Developer

When Cristina says she is a “no error” person, she means it literally; 8 years in pharmaceutical research & production will imprint precision, responsibility and triple-checking like few other things can. Why coding? While working on a Quality By Design project and being in charge of using data modelling software, she got more and more “addicted”; up to the point of a complete twist in her career. Started with Python, JavaScript and SQL DB Management, then dived into .NET, making the most of it when designing her APIs and functionalities. Cristina is interested in test-driven development and eager to improve her Node.js skills. Connecting with people and discussing ideas brings her joy, listening to Bach or Debussy helps her unwind, stargazing and random acts of kindness keeps alive her sense of smallness.

Raul-Orlando Delan, Back-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Raul-Orlando Delan

Back-End Developer

Raul’s weakness is taking things apart: watches, engines and… software. There’s poetry in pistons and camshafts or - especially! - in server network protocols. He likes Python, C++ and C#; the latter, he wants to master “yesterday”, because back-end is where he feels at home. When he isn’t taking things apart (or putting them back together), Raul plays soccer, preferably as a midfielder; preferably in a Barcelona jersey.

Samuel Deak, Back-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Samuel Deak

Back-End Developer

According to Samuel, two formative experiences determined his choice of a career: solving a scrambled Rubik's cube all by himself when he was 11 and his first class in computer science when he was 15. Applying logic to problems is what he is still very much passionate about and C++ and C# is what he prefers using for this. Sami is an Alternosfera fan, has a good volleyball serve and can’t wait for the cold months when he can take out his snowboard.

Vlad-Florin Ciorba, Back-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Vlad-Florin Ciorba

Back-End Developer

Vlad was always very good with computers and math. He was 15 years when he bet his uncle that he could build him a better website; he won. While he studied Mathematics & Computer Science at BBU, Vlad realized he likes to work in C#, C++ and Python and decided back-end is where he belongs. Consequently, he got proficient with JavaScript,AngularJS, jQuery, PHP and gobbles up everything connected to server-side programming. Any art/humanities interests? Sure: recent BMW and Mercedes cars!

Naum-Flavius Hanc, iOS Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Naum-Flavius Hanc

iOS Team Leader

As far back as he can remember his history with computers, Naum was trying to hack software; hack as in “alter things to accomplish a goal that differs from the original purpose of the system”. Any tool that he thinks can be made to bear he will appropriate: C++, C, Swift, anything OOP, Python, Java, Objective-C, C#, JavaScript, etc. These days he is focusing on constructive hacking, mainly related to iOS apps. Naum is utterly pragmatic when it comes to the iOS / Android divide: no ideological commitments, he simply works in iOS because right now it offers exciting possibilities for a developer. Naum is comfortable recognizing he is somewhat eccentric: his working music is Beethoven’s, he has a thing for simple food and he stubbornly continues to snowboard even after being injured.

Mihai Chis, iOS Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Mihai Chiș

iOS Developer

Mihai has a masters degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca. If there is one thing that represents him is this: navigating “impossible” off-road trails and reaching difficult destinations. When Mihai purchased an iPhone 3G and got instantly hooked: making apps was then the equivalent of off-roading! Mastering Xcode, iOS, Objective-C, Foundation, UIKit, Swift followed naturally because you can’t go on a mobile adventure unprepared. When he isn’t developing apps you will most probably find him off-roading (literally, this time) somewhere in the mountains of Maramures, Romania or maintaining a positively huge network of friendships and acquaintances.

Emil Micu, iOS Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Emil Micu

iOS Developer

Emil got caught into the iOS gravity well when his older brother gave him a Mac and then later, an iPhone. To be able to tinker around, Emil learned Swift, C and Objective C. Lately, he honed his skills in XCode and got a better grip on the intricacies of using git for source control. Somewhat rare when it comes to developers, he is also a keen learner when it comes to soft skills, business and startup culture. Emil enjoys the challenge of playing competitive soccer, relaxes while jogging on Linkin Park music. Every weekend, if he can, he tries to go visit some new place he heard or read about.

Beni Lar, Android Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Beni Lar

Android Developer

Java developer focused on Android and web frameworks Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master. Hybris Core and Hybris Commerce certified developer. With 4 years of experience as a Java developer I had the chance to work on desktop, web and mobile solutions so I can quickly add value to any Java based project.

George Toldas, Android Developer at Cubic SoftLab

George Toldaș

Android Developer

George loves to tinker with the hardware at least as much as he likes to tweak software. As a teenager he was constantly taking apart, upgrading and put together his computer; inevitably, this required some coding skills as well. When smartphones started making waves he was sold on the enormous potential they have. One thing led to another and he is now studying for a degree in Automation and Computer Science at UTCN. His acquaintance with C expanded, he got proficient in C# and Java and now he is learning Node.js and Ruby. When he can spare a minute he loves to play video games at the toughest setting; arguably, there is nothing better than Final Fantasy XIV.

Cosmin Magdas, Front-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Cosmin Magdaș

Front-End Team Leader

Opinionated and passionate about most things, Cosmin is very utilitarian when it comes to programming. A no-nonsense sort of guy with a no-nonsense approach to programming.

Darius Blajan, Front-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Darius Blăjan

Front-End Developer

Darius doesn’t talk much and is one of those persons that can easily fool you into thinking he is somewhat... slow. Once you get to know him, you realize he is just a very deliberate guy and very difficult to thwart once he sets on a course. As a student, he started with C/C++, then decided JavaScript is a better investment of his time and didn’t let go until he mastered it. Now he works on adding Angular, React and maybe Ember to the list of his skillsets. When he isn’t coding, Darius follows his other major passion: music and sports.

Adrian-Ioan Chirila, Front-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Adrian-Ioan Chirilă

Front-End Developer

Adrian’s background is in mathematics and computer science; one of those guys that likes to ready on algorithm theory for fun. He is good with Javascript, Java,, C++, SQL server, mongoDB, Node.js; he is even better if is he has some gothic soundtrack in the background. Recently, the topic of internet security has piqued his interest and he is following related threads and learning all he can. In his spare time Adrian is a regular at the gym and loves to play soccer tennis. Oh, and let’s not forget: japanese sport cars are simply the best (obviously!)

Gabriel Grijincu, Front-End Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Gabriel Grijincu

Front-End Developer

Gabriel “googled” himself into web development and he even knows exactly what started him on his path: a friend showing him a website he was in the process of building. The website seemed to Gabriel a bit clumsy and he started thinking about ways to make it better. Nowadays, Gabriel is proficient in JavaScript, C++ and PHP and he knows what he wants to do in life. He dreams of making someday a framework able to duke it out with heavy-hitters like ReactJS and AngularJS. Whenever he can, Gabriel loves to hang around horses, take care of them and ride as much as he can.

Flaviu Mates, UI/UX Designer at Cubic SoftLab

Flaviu Mateș

UI/UX Designer

Flaviu had various intense relationships over time - HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery, etc. Nowadays he gets along famously with web design, but not to the point of a 'monogamous' relationship: variety is too tempting.

Ciprian Serban, Web Developer at Cubic SoftLab

Ciprian Șerban

Web Developer

For as long as he remembers, Ciprian was always passionate about computers. Even while pursuing a degree in Business Information Technology at Babes Bolyai University, he was looking to for solid hands-on experience in web development and testing. At Cubic, Ciprian is involved in web development; works in HTML and CSS; recently became proficient in Wordpress; plans to learn PHP. A truly sociable fellow, hanging out with friends is one of his favourite pastime.

Bogdan Mihai Pop, Quality Assurance at Cubic SoftLab

Bogdan Mihai Pop

Quality Assurance, Team Leader

Bogdan’s huge smile is always on; which is very nice, of course. Unless he is still smiling when testing for bugs in the code you just wrote. He started testing because he wanted to make some relatively easy money; he got better at it to the point where he learned Java and JavaScript and now gets acquainted with automated testing scripts. Bogdan is currently enrolled in the Business Information Systems program at BBU. He likes to listen to classic rock, has a soft spot for Queen, plays guitar whenever he can and likes to travel. Unsurprisingly, he is also a big fan of Cartman (of South Park fame) and an inveterate jester.

Cuibus Marius-Traian, Quality Assurance at Cubic SoftLab

Cuibus Marius-Traian

Quality Assurance

Marius is a graduate of Management and Business Administration at BBU that didn’t like his prospects on the job market and decided to learn testing and really nail it. Started with some basic Java and is ploughing now through JavaScript because this will allow him to upgrade to complex automation testing. Marius has this crazy idea that testing is somehow crucial if you want to launch a quality website, app or software. Marius is always there when it comes to sports or getting together and having fun; promise him a good Eddie Murphy or Jim Carrey comedy and he is your buddy for life.

Sebastian-Vasile Bia, Quality Assurance at Cubic SoftLab

Sebastian-Vasile Bia

Quality Assurance

The difficult does not equal the impossible for Sebastian. After getting a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration he decided it didn’t suit him at all and decided to switch radically towards IT even if it was obvious he had no relevant background. On pure determination, Sebastian got his ISTQB accreditation while working a full time job in an unrelated domain; he continues to learn - theses days, Java and JavaScript and applying that to automated testing. After work, Sebi is a study in contrasts: a cautious driver in the city, but a daring mountain biker during most weekends when he manages to clock around 90 km per week.

Adrian Murzac, Content Marketing Specialist at Cubic SoftLab

Adrian Murzac

Content Marketing Specialist

Adrian is a psychologist by training made worse by an unnatural amount of curiosity that helped him during complete a M.Sci and a PhD in Cognitive Science. A quintessential idea junkie and scatterbrain with a fair analytical mind, he managed to transition to SEO and Marketing without much difficulty. Taking too much time when it comes to researching things out, he is nonetheless fast when it comes to brainstorming. Adrian likes to read, listen to podcasts and talk about ideas in science, history, philosophy and religion, doing a bit of gardening and raising rabbits.
